Cindy Cebrzynski was a Benedictine University student and active member of Benedictine’s Best Buddies organization before her death in an automobile accident in November 2004. A scholarship established in her name is made available to any Benedictine student who has a 3.0 grade point average, is involved in giving back to the community and has an interest in nursing. Benedictine University’s chapter of Best Buddies will hold its fourth annual 5K Walk to benefit the Cebrzynski scholarship fund beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4 at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex. Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1989 by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, Best Buddies chapters are at more than 1,200 middle schools, high schools and college campuses. The cost of the event is $15. Participants receive a T-shirt. Prizes are awarded to the top 10 runners. This year’s event will include raffle prizes, breakfast and music provided by a DJ. People interested in participating or donating can contact the Benedictine University Best Buddies organization c/o Joan Henehan by calling (630) 829-6617 or by e-mail at jhenehan@ben.edu.
