Simpson, Bren earn NAC women's basketball awards

Benedictine senior Laketa Simpson (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township H.S.) was named second team All-Northern Athletics Conference (NAC), it has been announced. Additionally, sophomore reserve center Jenn Bren (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East H.S.) was named to the NAC's inaugural "All-Sportsmanship Team." Simpson, a second-year member of the Eagles after transferring in last season, led the team to its third berth in the NAC post-season tournament in as many years of the league's existence. Simpson averaged team-leading statistics of 14.4 points, 3.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Simpson also amassed 18 blocked shots (second on the Eagles' team) and drained a team-high 40 three-point baskets. She also averaged 5.4 rebounds per game for her 25 appearances in 2008-09. Bren played in all 26 games - primarily off the BU bench - with averages of7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Bren shot 50 percent from the field on the year.
