BenU at Mesa announces new majors in Graphic Arts and Design and Political Science

Mesa, Arizona ~ Graphic designers are responsible for the food product labels on your favorite beverage or snack and those eye-catching product displays. From politicians to attorney generals, public servants work to make their communities a better place to live.

Both demand talented, creative and passionate people with ideas – and the requisite degrees, which you can now pursue at Benedictine University at Mesa.

The University announced the addition of two new degree programs – the Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Arts and Design and the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an available concentration in Pre-Law.

Talented designers are in demand and expected to face strong competition for jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The bureau also reports political scientists will need to have a solid education to remain competitive for jobs, which are reported to grow 21 percent from 2012 to 2022.

Benedictine’s Department of Art encourages students to develop and refine their talent through exposure to a variety of artistic traditions, including the representational traditions of Western Art, Modernism and Post Modernism. Students will take a range of courses from the disciplines of drawing, design, oil painting, printmaking, photography, computer art and graphic design.

The University’s Department of Political Science offers students many opportunities for hands-on participation in public service activities. Students annually participate in Model United Nations Mock Trial competitions, consistently placing high.

The Pre-Law concentration gives students understanding of government systems and social problems while gaining skills in critical analysis. The concentration is an option for Political Science majors who plan to attend law school.
