Benedictine names Edward G. Robinson new VP of Admissions and Financial Aid

Lisle, Illinois ~ Benedictine University has selected Edward G. Robinson to oversee the University’s traditional undergraduate recruiting and enrollment functions as vice president of Admissions and Financial Aid.

Robinson has more than 20 years of higher education experience in student affairs and enrollment services. He is currently executive dean of Student Affairs at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, Wis., where he is responsible for providing operational oversight in such critical areas as admissions, advising, registration and records management, financial aid, student development, and budgeting and enrollment management.

His achievements include reducing the timeline for admissions acknowledgements and student financial aid processing, and implementing a financial wellness/counseling program which helped more students take advantage of financial aid. He also spearheaded the development of a new Student Success Center that optimized testing and tutoring for students and a Career Professional Development Office, providing soft skills training for students to meet the needs of area employers.

Prior to his tenure at Blackhawk Technical College, he was the CEO of College Connections Inc., in Overland Park, Kansas, a consulting firm providing marketing, recruitment and retention plans and programs for college recruiters; dean of students at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas; and director of Enrollment Services and assistant director of Student Services at Kent State University in Ashtabula, Ohio.

In addition to his experiences in higher education, Robinson has served on numerous professional and community boards including the Boys & Girls Club, Rock Valley Community Programs, the Volunteer Action Center, and Project 16:49, a nonprofit devoted to helping homeless teens in Rock County, Wis., achieve their goals.

His professional affiliations include the National Society of Leadership and Success, National Association of Student Affairs Professions and the American College Personnel Association. He is also an expert educational advisor for The Wall Street Journal.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburg, a Master of Science in Administration and Justice from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pa., and is a doctoral student in the Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership program at Northcentral University in Minneapolis, Minn.

The University community is looking forward to Robinson’s start at Benedictine on May 1.
