Lombard resident and Benedictine alumna, Anne Lipira, BSN, RN-BC, CCRP, is one of 15 nurses that were recently honored as 2018 Advocate Nurses by the Advocate Health Care System.
A 2013 graduate from the College of Education and Health Services with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, Lipira was recognized in large part for her work in the cardiac rehab unit at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers, Grove, where she has helped countless patients and families learn how to lead healthy lifestyles.
“It is such an honor and privilege to be a nurse," Lipira said. "I love my patients and my job. I feel very blessed to be able to work alongside so many talented caretakers.”
“As a BenU alumnus, I am so proud to represent the university. The nursing program was a great fit for me and gave me the education and clinical experience to do something I love.”
Known for empowering her patients, Lipira’s talents extend beyond the cardiac rehab unit. During her time within the Advocate Health Care system, the former Eagle has started a local Mended Hearts program to inspire hope and improve quality of life for heart patients, helped raise thousands of dollars for the annual American Heart Association Heart Walk, and served on the Nursing Governing Council to mentor new graduates.
"These particular nurses were chosen by their colleagues to be recognized for their unwavering commitment to delivering safe, quality care in a way that is both compassionate and innovative,” said Susan Campbell, senior vice president and chief nursing officer, Advocate Health Care.
More than 400 nurses from Advocate Health Care hospitals, home health care, support centers, clinics and medical offices were nominated for the honor.
Nominations were submitted by physicians and associates, including many non-nursing associates, to recognize Advocate nurses who empower, serve and thrive. These nominations were vetted and presented in blinded format to site-based review committees who scored each according to a metric that considered each nominee's passion for patient care, commitment to service, problem-solving abilities and leadership aptitude.
