Three decades after graduating from Illinois Benedictine College, now Benedictine University, Ray Konopka Jr., will again take to the ceremonial stage to address the University’s latest graduates during 129th Commencement Convocation on Saturday, May 11, 2019.
A graduate with degrees in Mathematics and Computational Science, Konopka is the founder of Raize Software, Inc., a computer software company that provides high-quality, innovator developer tools to software developers worldwide, including Fortune 500 companies. He is also the lead software engineer for The Walt Disney Company where he develops software solutions for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
“We’re extremely proud to have Ray Konopka as the 2019 commencement speaker,” said Charles W. Gregory, Benedictine University President. “He is an inspiring entrepreneur and innovator. Even more importantly, he is an incredibly kind and generous colleague.”
A Naperville resident and former Benedictine Alumni Achievement Award recipient, Konopka is a current University Board of Trustee, serving in that role since 1995. Konopka was also a Who’s Who honoree at the University and served as a President’s Associate from 1999 to 2008.
After graduating from Benedictine, Konopka earned a master’s degree from Northwestern and founded Raize Software a few years later. Later in his career, Konopka and his wife established the Raize Software Scholarship in Computer Science, which is awarded annually to outstanding BenU students in the computational sciences.
