New Program Will Support Minorities and First-Generation College Students
Benedictine University is pleased to announce the brand-new Belong Scholarship Program – A Personal Journey of Excellence, an initiative that will begin with incoming freshmen in the fall of 2021 and continue with future classes throughout their years at BenU.
All college students have access to the many resources a college or university provide for academic, personal and professional growth, but the Belong Scholarship Program at Benedictine will provide those students accepted into the program to have those resources streamlined directly to them through peer, faculty/staff and alumni mentoring to ensure their success throughout their time as a student here at Benedictine. The Belong Scholarship Program will take a more focused approach on how students that choose Benedictine maximize their experiences and growth inside and outside of the classroom. This program will assure that for those accepted into the program and provide a roadmap of not only resources but support to achieve the goals they and their families have set out for them in the college search process.
Students who are in the program will receive:
All those in the program will receive a $2,000 renewable scholarship for their education at BenU. Beyond admission to BenU, there are no academic requirements for this program—applicants simply need to be a first-generation college student or part of an underrepresented minority. The university is hoping to enroll 20-25 freshmen students in its first cohort.
