In an effort to better serve its students and the local community, Benedictine University has enhanced its traditional undergraduate summer courses by piloting 22 new offerings at a 50 percent reduced tuition rate.
Beginning this summer, in addition to the “traditional” summer course offerings, Benedictine students can choose from more than 20 rigorous piloted courses in subjects ranging from accounting and cell biology to calculus and psychology. These courses, which will help students fulfill core major requirements through a challenging summer curriculum, will be offered in an either partly or fully online format at a discounted rate of $432.50 per credit hour. After the pilot is completed, the program will be reviewed with the goal of offering even more classes in this format during future terms.

Now that you have completed your taxes, do not forget to update your student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool and import your tax information directly from the IRS into the FAFSA.
If your student is planning to utilize student loans, they must complete loan entrance counseling and a master promissory note at studentloans.gov.
Approximately one of three FAFSA applications is randomly chosen for verification. If you have been selected for verification, you will be notified by mail and requested to supply additional documents. Please submit the documents promptly so we may expedite the financial aid process for your student.
The Office of Financial Aid will begin awarding federal and state aid to returning students in April. In addition to a completed FAFSA, all necessary documents must be completed and submitted and the student must register for fall 2014.
For additional information, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at firstname.lastname@example.org or (630) 829-6100.

I am Linda D. Owens, associate dean for Student Development at Benedictine. I have the awesome privilege of coordinating the ushers for the University’s 122nd Commencement Convocation. What a joy it is to have seen the many hours of studying that students have put in over the years and now see them reach their graduation day. As you can imagine, it takes many volunteers to help make this special day a success.
I am taking this opportunity to invite you to assist the University as an usher at the Commencement Convocation on Saturday, May 10. The ceremony for undergraduates will be held from 9:45-11:15 a.m. The ceremony for graduates will be held from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
If you would like to volunteer (children age 12 and older are welcome to volunteer) for one or both ceremonies or would like more information, please contact Owens at (630) 829-6123 or email@example.com.
Has your student been on a retreat? If not, ask them if they have signed up for the Koinonia Retreat, a Catholic retreat open to all Christians, Friday-Sunday, April 11-13, at the Carmelite Spiritual Center in Darien, Ill.
