Benedictine University is an independent, coeducational institution of higher learning, founded by the Benedictine Monks of St. Procopius Abbey. Benedictine University is accredited by the National Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, the Illinois State Department of Public Instruction, the State Teacher Certification Board, the American Dietetic Association, and the National League for Nursing. The University was founded in 1887, as St. Procopius College. In 1971, the College was re-named to Illinois Benedictine College. In April 1996, with the addition of a Ph.D. program in Organizational Development, the College became Benedictine University.

The Clearinghouse provides enrollment and degree verification for all current students and alumni as long as there are no financial or academic holds on the student's account. Unless a student has a FERPA "prevention of directory information form" on file, the Clearinghouse can provide the following items if asked:

The Registrar's Office provides current and past enrollment verifications for insurance, student discounts, and a variety of other reasons. To receive an enrollment verification, please either stop by our office in 103 Lownik between 8:30 am - 5:00 pm or email us at #Registrars@ben.edu from your Benedictine Email account requesting an education verification.
